Question: I use a commercial site (newspaperarchives.com) that displays images of old newspaper stories. It requires Adobe Reader to open these or else it says the appropriate plug-in is not installed. A third party plug-in like Schubert is required to be installed in the Internet Plug-ins folder if nothing else works.

I understand this should not be necessary with Safari and Adobe Reader installed, as they are, on my machine. At least one might expect a default to Preview.

Any ideas to avoid the expensive and supposedly unnecessary third party plug-in?

The Schubert|it plug-in is free unless you use it commercially.
Turn your web browser into a great PDF viewer – with PDF Browser Plugin
