I have used Ulead VideoStudio using which I can slect a clip, mark and remove portions of the clip in a separate window.

I can makk the portion using function keys while playing the clip so it is easy.

I can't find such thing in iMovie? Do I require any external plug-in?

Hope I have conveyed the problem properly.

Thanks,
Ashish

If you hover your mouse over the timeline under the main window, you will see two triangles appear. You can move these to where you want the cut made:

Then use either command-X to cut, command-K to crop, delete to remove.

To split a clip at the playhead, press command-T.

I saw this somewhere but I need to note down the clip location that I want to cut.

I want to be able to play the clip, mark the starting and then mark the end.

Please see the manual of Ulead VideoStudio. ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Manual/VideoStudio7/vstudio.zip or see the image here

is this possible?

Thanks,
Ashish
