Hi all.

I downloaded the new Virex 7.5.1 to have a look at it. I installed it under my normal user account. The installer requested (as so often) the admin pw. Then I did a reboot.

I was surprised to see that virex launched, running as root giving me root access to any folder. I switched to the guest account, same picture.

For info see my blog fr135.de

Anybody seen this?

I installed it in my admin account, and Virex runs as me, not root.

I have to admit that I have seen both behaviours, when I first installed Virex it launched and was plainly running as root (the window widgets reverted to being coloured!), but since then it seems to run as me (I restarted in the meantime), so thats OK. Maybe its only something that happens when you first install?

Ah, that could be. It could be that it only does this upon first launch / first install.

But it seems as if it does it for every user. I first saw it when I logged in to my account "fries". Then I was so suprised that I tried to log in as "gast" (German for guest) and there I got root access too.

Now, what happens if you add a new user and login as that new user. Will virex then launch once as root? (That would be security issue enough for me...)
