There is well-known problem with Mac and Safari, being not able to connect to websites and sometimes requiring double clicks to connect to server. My first solution was to manually enter DNS numbers of ISP. However, it did not work 100%. The next solution was ultimate one: I installed Realtek PCI Ethernet card for PC (Panther has drivers for it) and connected my router to the Realtek rather than onboard Ethernet. Result is 100% connectivity and no longer any dreadful Safari messages of not being able to connect.. When by mistake I linked the cable to onboard Ethernet, the connection problem reappeared.
Conclusion: something is wrong with onboard Ethernet on majority of Macs and with its software/drivers.

... problem can be solved by disabling IPv6 in the network preference panel

10.3.7 is supposed to solve it as well, right?

I've never seen this "bug" to be honest; however, I've heard 10.3.7 does fix it thus far yes...

I updated to 10.3.7 and have not seen this problem anymore on my PB or our iMac. Previously I manually added the addresses in the Network preference pane to get around the issue. This goes for my connection at home and at work. Both wireless.
So far so good. Safari even feels faster and more useable now. Could just be the updates, restart, etc.
