Outlook Express freezing on messages

I run OE 5.06 on a Mac clone, OS 9.0.4. Recently, Outlook Express freezes when I try to open many of my messages (not all) and I am forced to reboot. OE even crashed when I tried to rebuild its database, giving me a Type 2 Error message.

Should I increase my OE memory? How much?
