Yo, here's the deal. I got a ton of work that's been archived in Retrospect onto regular ol CD's, about 100 of these CD's, that all have valuable information on them, and I've been given the job to figure out how to salvage these files. The problem is that CD's have a limited life and some of our older CD's aren't working anymore. I tried copying them using Roxio Toast but because the CD doesn't mount Roxio wont notice it and therefore can't create a copy of the CD, unless there's another way that I don't know of. My question is this, how can I copy the info on these discs and transfer them to new CD's without having to retrieve all the files on one CD and then burning that? I just want to make two sets of these CD's so that we have a backup incase something happens to the originals. Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds more like a problem with your CD drive than a problem with the CDs. The lifespan of a CD ought to be at least 20 years, I think.

By the way, if the CD can't be read, then even Retrospect won't be able to recover the data. That would be bad news. First, though, I'd try a few other CD drives.
