I'm trying to burn a playlist through iTunes ...

The info at the bottom of the playlist panel says 22songs, 1.5 hours, 421mb.
They are a combination of iTunes music store songs, and some ripped from cds in lossless format ...

When i press burn iTunes tells me "the songs in this playlist will not fit on one cd"

I'm burning onto a 700mb 80 min disk ... what's wrong?

You probably have it set to burn an audio CD. Audio CD format takes up a lot more space. Your songs would easily fit if you create an MP3 CD, but your audio CD can only take 80 minutes of music. Just go into the preferences and change it to use an MP3 CD, or remove enough music to get it under the 80 minute mark. BTW, if you click on the display at the bottom where it says "1.5 hours," it will change that so you can see exactly how many minutes of music you have.
