Everything that was free in the older, free WireTap continues to be free in WireTap Pro. You can use it to your heart's content to record AIFF recordings, and never pay for it.

As for what's new in it, it's really almost too much to mention -- .mp3, .m4a (AAC), and QuickTime movie file formats, recording from the Microphone/line in, scheduled recording sessions, radioSHARK integration, packaged sessions... give it a whirl

I had just surfed over to your site yesterday, and noticed that Wiretap was missing. I also noticed the "Wiretap Pro is coming soon" link.

I gotta hand it to you, moki: you're quick.

I wish that were true... we wanted this released a month or two ago, but decided to hold it up for some features we wanted to add. Still, I think it was worth it!

I also noticed the price. 12 bucks cheaper than Audio HiJack. Thanks for offering a crossgrade discount too. I'm going to pay the 9 dollars since I'm an Audio HiJack Pro user and definitely give this a try.

I never installed Audio Hijack because I don't trust the APE environment. WireTap must also install a kernel extension right? How safe is it? How does it compare to APE?

OK. I see that you're using the same Ambrosia kext that WireTap used--only updated. Expect my $$ soon.

By the way, your WireTap interface is just screaming to be a Tiger widget. It gets in the way on my 12" screen (I know I can hide it). It would be really neat to have it on the Widget layer.

Not a bad idea... but we do need to wait until something that I can neither confirm nor deny is called Tiger ships.

Yep, the technology that WireTap Pro uses has been tested in both the original WireTap, and Snapz Pro X 2.0 as well. It's quite solid.

Glad you like it -- my concept, our artist Marcus Conge's execution (he did all of the artwork for WireTap Pro, including the icon, etc.). You would not want to see what it'd look like if I tried to do it.

Dominic has created some very useful AppleScripts for use in conjunction with WireTap Pro. They also serve as nice examples of how to AppleScript WireTap Pro. Grab 'em here:

http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/addons.html

TimedRecording:

This script starts WireTap Pro recording and stops it after the specified duration (in minutes).
If WireTap Pro is already recording, it will still stop the recording after the specified duration.

iTunesSplit:

This script will record the currently selected track in iTunes with WireTap Pro and split it evenly into the specified number of recordings. The folder that the recordings will be saved into on the Desktop is also specified when the script is run.

I think AHP lets you use all your fancy VSTs and whatnot. I really don't need that.

I defiantly think you should make a little widget for Tiger. All you really need is a small floating toolbar and have the bare bones prefs on the reverse. I'm not sure it will work, but the idea is good. If you wanted to be a capitalist, such as yours truly, I'd make "WireTap Pro Platinum AOTY version" of WireTap, complete with an all new interface and a widget! And a widget! For a cheap $3 extra!

BTW, I was joking. Or maybe I'm not.

(You can leave the money for the idea taped to the back of the dumpster on Market Street. Small bills only.)

hrm. That's an interesting idea actually. If there is some way to play your modem through your Mac (on your Mac's speakers) then it'd work.

Yep, that should work fine -- and with our AppleScript support, Automator support, and the ability to save files directly to your iPod, it should be pretty seamless too.
