Sorry if it's been posted before, but I couldn't find it.

About to make the switch to Mac, and want to use some P2P's. Know all about the Windoze ones, but what are the best Mac ones?

Heard good things about Limewire, but i'm not so sure.

Obviously Bit-torrent (good Mac clients?)

Does anyone know anything about 'Direct Connect'. have been told it's fantastic, but have no experience of it.

Thanks in advance guys.

Azureus is probably the best BitTorrent client for any platform, and is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

To access the Gnutella, Fastrack and similar networks I would give xFactor a go. It's kinda buggy but works most of the time.

Finally, there's a beta eDonkey client available from the eDonkey site. It's a fairly horrid experience to use, but can be useful from time to time.

Acquisition is a beautiful and functional gnutella client, and my preferred p2p.

(ps - there are plenty of people who hate the developer, and who believe Acquisition violates the gnutella public license thingy. Don't believe their rants - the dev. has carefully separated his code from the open source code, and releases any improvements he makes to the open source code. If you prefer another application, go ahead, but don't be scared off by these wackos)

You can also use mldonkey. But the latest version has two bugs :
on 10.2.8, it seems to freeze after some time of use.
on 10.3.X with recent gcc you need to export CC=cc before the ./configure phase.

I use mldonkey which works pretty well. I've just found a binary distribution for it, you can get it from http://mlnet.macbay.de/mlnet/. The good thing about mldonkey is that you do not need a GUI, you can use your webrowser and point it to http://127.0.0.1:4080/ and control the application from there. The only drwback is you need to launch it from the command line.
