My Mac won't let me go to Kodak.com

I can't get to Kodak.com from my Mac, now matter which browser I use. After trying to load the page, I get a message that says "Document contains no data." If I go in through Virtual PC, it works fine. I've tried it on other Macs, and they work fine. I'm running an 800Mhz iMac 17"FP, with 10.3.7. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but that doesn't work either. Safari just seems to keep trying load, but nothing comes up. When I try it in Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox, etc., I eventually get that message. Very bizarre and frustrating. I just took on a part time job working for the marketing agency for Kodak, and I have to go to Virtual PC to get to their site!

Any other ideas? Anyone else?

delete safari cache

i'd say delting the prefs as well but its happening in mozilla so would not matter.

is there something special about the ip address of that mac. like is it behind a firewall?

It's a home machine, running through a Linksys cable router. I tried your link a little while ago, and, after the "loading" wheel spun for 30 minutes, I got this message;

Safari can’t open the page “http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQueri...questid=34255” because the network connection was reset, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later.

Have you tried creating a new user to see if the problem persists on another account? Also try without the router.

Tried a new user account; no go also. For some reason, I can't get online at all when I go straight from the cable modem, without the router. I get a message saying that the computer has a self-assigned ethernet address, and may not be able to connect to the internet (which it doesn't). No matter how I try to configure Network Settings, I can't get on, unless I go through the router. Maybe it's because my ISP (Bright House) is looking for my router IP adrress??

I also posted this problem on the Apple Discussion Boards, and I got a reply saying that it could be a 10.3.7 networking issue?

Very bizarre!

My suggesttion is to give it a day or two. Perhaps there is an error in your ISP's DNS cache/server. Changes can take a day to work themselves out.

I doubt its your Mac that is the cause of the problem.

Problem solved!! I disconnected the router (which I didn't need anyway, as I used to have a roomie with a PC), physically unplugged the cable modem, plugged in the ethernet cable from my Mac to the modem, plugged the cable modem back in, and I'm in business!! Apparently, the router had something to do with it!

I had been using a Linksys wrt54g wireless router and it had occasional weirdness with dns issues even with the latest firmware. I replaced it with a new Netgear wgt624 (108MB--even though I can't access that speed) router that seems to work better. It also doesn't drop my connection like the Linksys did and seems to have more signal strength--at least so far!

Sometimes routers get bolixed up. Since they are little computers, with a finite amount of memory, and since their firmware is not always "leak proof," sometimes they need to be rebooted. You do this with a Linksys by just unplugging its power and letting it sit for a few minutes.

The reason you couldn't connect straight through your modem until you turned it off and restarted it is that, apparently as a security issue-to keep outsiders from hijacking your LAN?-most cable modems will only talk to the ethernet device that's connected to them when they power up. Change that device (they all have unique hardware addresses), and the cable modem clams up.

What you should do is first turn everything off. Connect the modem, router, and computer. Turn on the modem and let it do its startup thin, waiting about 2-3 minutes (TIME IT! THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT). Now turn on the router and repeat the wait. This waiting lets each device finish its initialization sequence, and prepares it to handle traffic. NOW turn on the computer. You should be able to go anywhere now.

If you have another problem where you can't go where you want to, reboot the router before you do anything else-99% of the time that will fix your problem.
