Hey guys,

So I just did a reformat and reinstalled Panther. I chose to install Stuffit Expander 7.02 in the Panther installer, and when I was all setup (up to 10.3.7) I tried to unstuff a file, Stuffit just bounced in the dock endlessly. I checked the console and nothing was there, I thought I might need a new update so I got Stuffit Standard 9.0 and tried its expander, and that just bounces too. Even if I try to open it normally, it still bounces.

Any ideas at all?

Thanks,
Oliver

if you leave it alone for a couple minutes, eventually it'll open.

Wait until it launches, open Stuffit's preferences, uncheck 'Allow Version Checking'.

I'd fire whoever programmed the thing to bounce for so long without timing out after 10 seconds or at least sticking the thing in a background thread.

"Our servers will never go down."

Sheesh.

The amount of pain this thing caused me before I found this thread...

Here are some terminal commands to fix things if you don't want to wait for the program to actually launch:

Code:
defaults write com.stuffit.Expander allowVersionChecking -bool NO defaults write com.stuffit.Deluxe allowVersionChecking -bool NO defaults write com.stuffit.DropStuff allowVersionChecking -bool NO defaults write com.stuffit.DropTar allowVersionChecking -bool NO defaults write com.stuffit.DropZip allowVersionChecking -bool NO
