Nobody has said it but it seems logical. The widgets can/will do most of the different channels in Sherlock.
I, personally, use the Movie channel in Sherlock all the time but overall Sherlock seems like one of the most ignored and underutilized apps on the Mac.

I use sherlock (yellow pages, movies, flight tracking) frequently, but I think Dashboard is much better as (1) you can see multiple things at once; (2) seems more likely that third parties will develop widgets (where they didn't develop many plug-ins for Sherlock)
Things I'd use in Dashboard that either aren't in Sherlock, or aren't done well in Sherlock:
(1) weather
(2) package tracking
(3) dictionary/thesaurus (right now I prefer omnidictionary and nisus thesaurus to sherlock
Plus, there's things I'd use elsewhere, but would rather they were in Sherlock, like Calculator, and (possibly - haven't decided) Address Book.
So yeah - bottom line, it seems Dashboard has definitely replaced Sherlock (speaking of - was Sherlock in any of the docks during the Stevenote? I don't think I saw it there...)

AFAIK, Sherlock hasn't been included in the dock on new Macs for awhile now.

i agree cpac. I'd rather see multiple widgets at a time as well.
That's cool. I don't mind seeing Sherlock go but I hope someone writes a widget for the movie channel. I use it all the time.

I just use sherlock for movie searches, I would be happy if they got rid of it for Dashboard.

Ohh that is what is missing from Dashboard, a nice movie search.
And I never considered Dashboard could replace sherlock, with the newest widgets revealed, I think that is very very true.

The translation features of Sherlock are great. When I showed them to my Taiwanese girlfriend she was very impressed. So it's good to see they've put that into Dashboard.
To me, Dashboard seems like a way for people to get Sherlock functionality and more, I think most don't realise that Sherlock can actually be quite powerful.

I think Dashboard has an opportunity to grow in a way that really never happened with Sherlock. There was never the explosion of Channels that I think we'll see with Dashboard.
That is, if Konfabulater is any example. They've had tons of widgets developed for that.
