I just bought a domain/hosting package last week, and i was wondering how do i get started...right now i just wanted to upload pictures to it. I think you have to buy software, so does anyone here have any suggestions on what software i should get? Oh, and i'm a broke college student...so the cheaper the better

I like Transmit for doing ftp. Quite easy to understand and very stait forward.

As a student you are able to get discounts, use them.

There is BBedit for building web pages with html. There is also Dreamweaver, try it out as you can for a trial period.

The code that you write can be as simple or as complex as you make it.

Have fun.

If you just want to start by uploading pics and doing simple stuff, you can do that for free using free/shareware programs like Cyberduck (for ftp) and Mozilla Composer for a very basic web design program, or (in order of price and power) work your way up through RapidWeaver, Freeway Express, maybe Contribute, all the way up to GoLive and DreamWeaver. The cheaper ones provide templates for designs, making it easier for novices but restricting your flexibility somewhat.
