hi
i got my wife an ibook for christmas and she is slowly switching from her pc to the ibook, but now the first problem has come up.
on the pc, she used namo webeditor and we are now looking for a simple webedit program. dreamweaver would be an overkill, but the follwing features would be nice: wysiwyg, drag/drop page creation, no html coding necessary and a site overview with all the pages/links. import of an existing site (10 or so pages only). is there something like this?
i have been searching on the web for a while now, but only found either html editors or huge applications like dreamweaver/golive.
is there anything less profesional/expensive for mac os x? thank you for all your help!

Have you considered Nvu? I think it's got most of what you want.

You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

i'm not sure about wysiwyg editors (Freeway?), but BBEdit's little brother, Text Wrangler 2.0, is free. as is Tag, and a few others you can find at Version Tracker (SubEthaEdit, SKedit, etc). i'd suggest one of those and a book on the subject. it's much more satisfying to hand code your own pages than rely on a wysiwyg app.

Hi,
There are quite a few options, some plain suck, while others rock.
If you are after something that uses templates and allows for very easy editing, I suggest:
SiteStudio
RapidWeaver
But if you are after hand editing, can I suggest Tag ?
I currently develop it, and by no means think its the best editor on the Mac, but I think its one of the most user friendly. If you are after a more editor intensive enviroment, can I suggest TextMate.
If your after a no-frills ride, you should try the always awesome SubEthaEdit.
Hope that helps,
Oliver
