I am looking for a business software, too, not just personal finance software. These are just some observations from my own looking.
The reviews on VersionTracker are not greatly encouraging so far as QuickBooks goes, although Intuit advertises themselves as doing well. Some people like it. You have to make sure that your bank will support a MAC version of QB, or it may not work. Be sure to see about that.
Take a look at VersionTracker, for reviews on the current QB, not to say that it was not a good software in the past.
One that some people like and review well is MoneyDance, a java programme.

Another business app to consider is http://.www.myob.com "MYOB". The program is similar to Quickbooks and comes with a 30 day no questions asked guarantee.

I was looking at that 1st. ZDnet rated quick books better but on myob's site they show a compareson chart that shows how much better the myob vs the quickbooks http://www.myob.com/us/pdf/dare_to_compare.pdf I was hoping it does every thing. I don't want to have to get another application for taxes etc tax write offs.

If Apple is to make some decent headway in the business world, it needs to have some good accounting software. How could you run a business without something truly useful, and that can communicate with IBM compatible computers? The need is imperative, most accounting firms, whom a business will employ, unless you have your own accountant, will be using the redmond stuff. Our accountant suggests us getting dell. Not for me.
Intuit should commit the resources to developing their product for the Mac that they do for advertising(for the Mac). Then it would adverise itself. For while the CEO of Intuit was on Apple's board. If that is still so, which I do not know, they must not care a great deal about Apple's future on the Mac, to go slow.
Apple needs to approach software companies like Peachtree, have someone who is in charge of the corporate part of Apple's customer market pursue this. Perhaps they are now doing that. I would like to see that, as I look for a suitable programme for our business.

I agree. Peach tree. But myob looks fairly strong. Just wait till tiger and spotlight. It will help speed things up big time. I also want to know if myob does tax write offs statistics of the future etc. Sort of like ph stat for pc but you just punch in the numbers. I also would like some features like a scanner plug in for barcord readers. the bt one also credit card machine to look more official.
Does myob rout to the bank. I saw on there site you pay montly for something? Complete support? what does that do thats like 250 a year. for what? Do I need it? I think I narroed my choice to myob right now.

I don't know much about MYOB. It looks good. They have a subscription, I know that, so look well at them, to see what you will be getting. They have been reviewed well, other than the support thing. I would say give them a call and find out where all they are at, including on the features that you need.
Then you will be able to gauge them a little bit, in calling them, to see how they handle questions.
I am thinking it is worthwhile to take a closer look at MYOB.
Another accounting software that I noticed on a small business Canadian site is Goldenseal, by a company named turtlesoft. Go to turtlesoft.com

I just looked on the Apple site, not looking for accounting, but for business software. I found 192 different products. So there is room for a lot of reading. Fool that I am for not thinking earlier.
One would like to hear from the view point of those who have made use of these.
Anyway, to my embarrassment, there is a large field to choose from.
Getting a critical review on these is another matter. One of the Mac magazines reviewed several of them, I think MacWorld.
MultiLedger from CheckMark is another that has been well reviewed.
Well, there is a lot of reading to do.
