Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac - OS9.2
(imac G4 in case it makes any difference)

Would appreciate any input on my prob: the drop down menus in Microsoft Word for Mac are not working - if you scroll over/click on a menu - eg. File, Edit, etc the menu below doesnt appear (except for the Font one). I've reloaded Microsoft Office, and the operating system - with the same exact problem. any ideas?

many thanks.

This belongs in the classic section, I think.

Apart from that, I can't imagine what the problem might be, but it seems to be an Office problem rather than a System problem. Since you've reinstalled the System and Office, it is probably not a problem with either. This leaves me thinking that it might be a special System extension that is in conflict with Office.

Some questions:

Have you disabled some of the extensions that Office installs?

Have you installed some extras from other programmes or hardware?

Have you removed some of the Office or System components?

There is no Classic section.

Anyway, have you tried trashing Word's preference files? That sometimes solves strange problems with Word, as that app seems to like to corrupt its prefs a lot.

Trashing the preference files will definitely do the trick. I've seen this happen many times.
