HI
I have been reading up about the new iWorks, and it says that it can export to macromedia flash format.
Does this mean that this will provide a simple and efficient way to produce macromedia flash projector files, which can be run on any computer? I am looking to create an interactive docum, ent, without the need for learning flash.
If notm what exactly do they mean by flash export?
Thanks, james

Hi James,
From this page on apple.com it says "You have two movie formats to choose from. You can export your presentation as a QuickTime movie that can be played on any Mac or PC. Or as a Macromedia Flash movie in SWF format."
So you would only be able to export flash as a SWF file, not an EXE projector file. Any computer with a browser and Flash plugin can play SWF.

Thanks for thr reply.
Once the keyn ote had been exported into the SWF format, would it still preserve all of its text animation, and other transitions etc? Or would each slide in the presentation be turned into a keyframe in flash?
It wouldnt be a problem for me to import the SWF file into flash, I was just looking for a simple way to produce high quality animations, which could eventually be exported into a projector file.
Any advice?

2 things:
1) VERY freaking cool. User interactive and all that.
2) WTF with the file size? That thing is REALLY large for how long it is.
Overall ...

it does not export the audio. i just made a new one now and it has a little ? where the <)) icon is in keynote for audio.
oh yeah, here is an .mov of the flash one i made earlier, so you can see which transitions i used and how flash changes them.
it does not do all the transitions in flash. understandably, like the burn one would be so difficult to do in flash. i think it changes ones it can't do to a fade out/in

That is amazing! Yeah, the file size of interestingly very large.
Anyway, could I insert hyperlinks into the presentation to jump to and from different sections? And is it possible to import vieo into keynote, and then export as part of a swf file with audio? Or doesnt the audio export in this case either?

Very cool! Thanks for posting this. I'm still waiting on my copy of iWorks to arrive. Does Keynote give you the ability to export a flash presentation that will play automatically without requiring the visitor to your website to keep clicking to keep the presentation going? Thanks

No audio kind of stinks, but oh well, it's not something I would use anyway. I also noticed that it really lost a ton when converted to a .swf but again, it's not native anymore so that's OK.

i'm sure you could make one that just plays through. i guess you would just need to make the keynote like that. that plays automatically (easy job)

Can somebody confirm that once I had created the presentation in Keynote, and exported it to Flash SWF format, could I then open it up in Macromedia flash to change effects?
Also, could i place a Hyperlink into the presentation to load up a quicktime movie with video anhd audio in a seperate window?

Very easily. Just select "self-playing" Dropdown in the Inspector (It's listed as "Presentation:" And it's default value is Normal)
