Anyone using Filemaker to manage thousands of photos? I hear there is a photo template.

I am using Cumulus on Windows at work to manage photos of small items. All are in directories labelled with the year and item number, and the class of item. (Each directory is named with the item number, and there are multiple photos per directory.) That's all I need for searchability. None of the photos are actually named.

I'd use iPhoto, but iPhoto '05 still seems very limited for actually managing photos, and I can't see it would be easy to do this in iPhoto.

Cumulus is convenient because it automatically adds the directory name (which is our item name too) to the database as it imports. In iPhoto I'd have to type all that in manually in subfolders or something.

I don't like Cumulus overall though. Seems kinda clunky.

So, is anyone using Filemaker for this stuff?

I guess you'd have to define "manage" - but for years I've used FM (6 still) a 8500-item book library and have related files into which I drag jpgs of their covers. Seems pretty smooth to me.

Back in FM 4 I used to get some crashes that would require recovery of corrupted files, but 6.0 has been great for it.
