I'm looking for a simple graphics viewer much like gqview in Unix. I've been using gbrowser for a bit, but no active development has taken place since 2003, and there are some things about it I don't like. My main issue is it auto smooths(?) my images, where it takes the picture and kinda blurs it together.

Here's what I want:

Viewer that has a directory view on the left ( i organize my pictures by folder) then a pane on the right hand side that shows the picture I've selected on the left. Don't need any fancy features except fit the image to the pane on the right.

If anyone has any apps I can try that are like this I would appreciate it. If it's a unix app I'll run it through X11, just don't suggest it if you've never compiled it before.

fyi: i tried to get gqview running, but it would not compile with gdk at all, tons of problems, I don't plan on spending hours and hours of my time porting it over. Thanks.

Thanks, I tried all of the suggestions out, and ImageBrowser was exactly what I was looking for, simple and just shows the pictures as taken. Thanks guys.

GraphicConverter's browser might also be nice for this, though of course it's not free.
