I'm looking for an application that will "watch" a web page and let me know when it updates.

Is there something like that out there?

Omniweb allows you to check a bookmark for updates (I think hourly is the most frequent), and will put a badge on its dock icon if it finds changes.

I'm surprised that something like this wouldn't have shown up as a Firefox extension yet. Have you checked http://mozdev.org and http://extensionroom.mozdev.org to see if there's anything there?

Also, if you've ever wanted to learn a scripting language, a project like this would be a very good place to start. Most modern scripting languages make it easy to download a file through the Web, and then it's just a matter of comparing it with a previous version of the page.

I found that funny as well.

The first thing I did was go and check for a Firefox extension but had no luck. Maybe I'll lurk around their forums and post my "suggestion". I'm not ready to start creating my own extension because of all the other stuff attached with developing any type of software (I'm busy enough ).
