Hello ...

I was thinking about getting iWorks ... then I read the system requirements and it seems I'm out of luck!

I was surprised to read I need iLife 04 at least ... which I don't have so I would have to buy iLife 05 ... okay I can deal with that ..

Then I read "requires dvd drive for installation"

Shoot! Am I misunderstanding something? Or are all us non dvd drive people up the creek?

iWork System Requirements ... from Apple site
Macintosh computer with 500MHz or faster PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 (G4 for PowerBook); G4 or G5 recommended
128MB of RAM (512MB recommended)
8MB of video memory (32MB recommended)
Mac OS X v10.3.6 or later
QuickTime 6.5 or later
iLife ’04 or later recommended
1GB of available disk space
DVD drive required to install applications
Tiger 10.4.8

iWork will be available on CD at a later point according to the specs site. Also, the iLife set comes with a CD and DVD.

also, if you're just looking for ilife '04 I bet you can find it for super cheap. I'd help you out, but I just gave mine away the other day.

Also it says iLife "recommended". I'm sure it will run without iLife, you just won't have all your media readily available via the iWorks/iLife integration. No dragging and dropping pics straight from iPhoto for you !!!

It doesn't say it requires iLife...

Actually, I bet that will still work, even with iPhoto 2.

What wont work is the whole media browser thing.

That iWork requires a DVD player is actually a relief. I thought I'd lost the CD. Turns out there isn't one.
