In the Explorer menu, under Preferences. Right where it is in any other app.

unless you mean the preference to select which browser (hopefully not IE) is your default.
In that case the preference can be set via Safari's preference panel.

I took a look with fs_usage. It looks like it stores them in com.apple.internetconfig.plist. It also does some stuff with some resource files too, though, so I'm not sure if it also stores some things there or what. Hopefully that will give you what you want, anyway.

Why is anyone using IE these days, unless you're on OS9?

thanks. I use this as backup to Safari.
The toolbar color changed, perhaps there is another preference there, can't remember what that was.

Any reason you don't use a more up-to-date browser (like Firefox or Camino) instead?

Why does Safari need a backup?

Every browser needs a backup. If one doesn't work, you can use the other.

And why do you need the preferences file then? Just switch back the toolbar colour to what it used to be. I don't have Internet Explorer installed, but I believe to remember that this is done somewhere in the View menu.
