Recently I've started to get regular spam emails that, for whatever reason, cause my Mail.app to crash and quit without warning. It happens when I click on the message to delete it. Mail will crash as it appears to be trying to display it. When I relauch Mail, I can select the email normally and delete it. In addition, on relaunch, the "date received" ordering of my email is reversed - the "date received" bar will indicate that my emails are in descending order, but they will appear in ascending order. This returns to normal if I quit Mail and relaunch a second time.
These spam messages are always composed of a single, attached GIF image. The most recent one was 7.2 KB, so it's not like it's choking on the file size.
Is this a known issue with Mail.app, or is there something I can do to fix it?
(Edit to add that I'm using Mail 1.3.9 under 10.3.7 with all the latest updates and patches installed.)
