I would like to adjust my toolbar in MS Word so that it spans across the entire screen, rather than just part of it. it seems to be very inflexible, and I'd like to know if there is a preference or something i can use to change this.

1. You can't stretch a toolbar to be longer than it needs to be -- it won't allow blank space.

2. Tools -> Customize -> Toolbars/Menus. Under the Toolbars tab, check any toolbars you want to edit. Then click the Commands tab. You can then browse the available commands and drag any desired commands to any toolbar.
