Does anyone know if there's a (free) Mac OS X RSS aggregator out there that supports both HTTP authenticated and SSL encrypted feeds? NetNewsWire supports it, but costs $30.

If none exists, does anyone know of a good open-source OS X RSS aggregator that I could add this too, I'd rather not have to write my own completely from scratch if I can avoid it.

But even it if did, it would take much more than 30 dollars of your time to RollYourOwn...

Yeah, I hadn't noticed that there was a free version. Their page layout almost makes it seem like they don't want people to know. Can't imagine why that would be...

Depending on the language it was written in, it might not actually take more than $30 worth of time, but even if it did once I put in that time the program would be out there for anyone to use. If it was a worthwhile program it would probably then pick up a few developers to help maintain and upgrade it. I'd consider that worth the time investment.

take peek at sourceforge.com

there might be something already started that does something similar. you need to pick something with a little life to it.... sourceforge is littered with the remains of "started" but abandoned projects...

best of luck.

What sweatshop do you work in that can churn out an RSS reader that supports HTTP auth for $30?

Not a full one, I meant adding in SSL to an already existing one.
