When I start entering an email address in the To: field of Mail, all of a sudden I can't type anything anymore. The spinning circle to the far rights starts going and never stops and I get the spinning beach ball. I have to Force Quit Mail.
When I turn off autocomplete address, the problem goes away -- but then I have to remember full e-mail addresses.
This is happening on my brand new Mac Mini - just installed. I don't know when it started happening. I have a PowerBook which has never exhibited this problem. When I installed the mini, I did the "Do you have another Mac?" firewire copy thing from the Powerbook.
I tried a few things. I fixed permissions. I noticed that when I went into the Address Book and clicked on myself, it would hang too. Clicking on other addresses were fine. I found the address book file and deleted it. I also deleted and then copied in a new Address Book app. None of this fixed the problem.
I noticed one other person just recently (within days) posted that he has the same problem on Apple's discussions. No answer yet.
Anyone else see this? Any other ideas to try?
