hello,

Anyone has any experience in utilizing Anacron for maintenance of the system, about its advantages and if it creates any difficulties.

Regards

Raymond

No one else is responding, and since I'm already in six of the threads in the search results, I'll post it. Search the forum.

Thanks for the answers.
I ask my question the concerns I had when reading the Read Me file, wit the intrusion it supposedly does.
Since there are other software doing similar tasks, is this one is better than the others.
Strange enough, Anacron is not available at version tracker

I may be wrongly understood the explanations on the Anacron website:
" Here is a Mac OS X disk image containing all the files you need;
after installing the package within this disk image, you should find
that anacron has taken-over processing of all the periodic cleanup
tasks on your Mac. "

The words which frighten me are "anacron has taken-over processing"
and in a second glance it may not so problematic.

May I conclude that no problem in installing and utilizing Anacron.
And, is it does similar tasks as other programs like Cocktail or Macaroni.

Anacron "takes over" a lot of cron's tasks for the very reason that you're installing anacron in the first place: cron can't make sure that things are run even if the computer's off or asleep at the time. It's not intrusive; that's exactly how anacron is supposed to work. I am not aware of any problems with anacron, so I say go ahead and install it.
