I thought I should be able to burn up to around 4.4 gigs onto a 4.7 gig DVD-R? Is there any way to burn more than the 4.28 gigs that Finder tells me are available?

Interersting, 4.7 GB (4700000000) bytes equals about 4.4 GB so yeah.. Can the hierarchy file be 100MB? I'm puzzled.

I seem to recall getting 4.4GBs from a DVD-R using Toast. Silly Finder.

Yeah, I use Toast and I get 4.4GB on DVD-R. I also have DVD-Ram and I can't format them properly with toast and they're supposed to be 4.7=4.4 but the Finder only lets me write to 4.12GB. Ho hum, another reason to hate the Finder. Sigh, so many reasons.

People use the Finder for disc burning? I'm not a big fan of "copy files to this disk image, then burn the disk image." My hd is more than fast enough to just nab random files and shove them on cd or dvd. Do it all the time with toast.
