Hi,

I just upgraded to Office 2004 and now, when I receive new email into Entourage, I receive duplicate messages. This did not happen in my previous version of Office. It's becoming rather inconvenient to be receiving two of everything.

Is this a known bug and is there a fix for it?

Thanks very much.

I don't know, but I have a similar problem when using an Exchange server. Then, I could only delete one of the messages but not the duplicate (no matter how many times I tried). I think Entourage is possibly the buggiest app in Office 2004.

You have any weird "Rules" that may have appeared or been edited without your knowledge?

This was one of my main reasons for ditching Entourage in favor of Mail. I had several POP accounts where I'd leave mail on the server and Entourage would wind up re-downloading stuff it had already gotten. In every forum where I've seen it discussed, the topic either gets ignored or someone passes the buck to the server. Nobody seems to have an answer. It used to happen to me several times a day when I had flaky WiFi reception. If E tried to retrieve mail when the connection was gone, the next time it connected, it'd retrieve several (sometimes several dozen) duplicate messages.

After I got more stable reception, it still happened but only every few days. Hasn't happened at all in over a month with mail. Obviously an Entourage bug, but nobody will acknowledge it.

If you make any headway, please PM me. I probably won't be going back to Entourage, but I'd like to know if this ever gets addressed.

cheers.

I do not have any weird rules that have changed in any way.

And I don't think it has anything to do with the server since I download all mail from the server when I check email. I never leave any mail on the server, so I'm really stumped, and I'm feeling like going back to Entourage X, or switching to another mail program. A google search hasn't yielded much info either.

i had the same problem conncting to an Exchange server using IMAP. Sent messages would occaisionally duplicate, then after a while incoming messages would do the same. The only "fix" i've found so far is to delete the account, then re-create it... problems gone.. for now
