Mail.app SMTP over SSL: very slow

	For some of my mail accounts, I'm using SSL encryption for POP and SMTP. Sending mail without SSL is almost instantaneous, sending mail over SSL on the same server and same account takes anywhere between 15 and 60 seconds before Mail.app even starts talking to the server. Is that normal? Also, is Mail.app's using 100% CPU while checking mails in 8 accounts normal or possibly SSL-related? TIA!
