I have to ask this qestion because I am getting nowhere with Yahoo Help. In one of my College courses we are required to use Yahoo Messenger for both chat and voice conversations. A majority of the class are PC users and don't have this problem, but is there anyone here who might be familiar with how to get Voice Chat to work on Yahoo Messenger?

I have a suspicion that voice chat does not work on Yahoo IM for Mac. Video, yes. Voice, don't think so.

Suspicion confirmed.

"Yahoo! Help - Yahoo! Messenger - Voice Chat
Yahoo! Messenger for Macintosh does not include the Voice Chat feature. We are aware there is strong interest among our Macintosh users, but there is currently no schedule for releasing this feature."

absolut78, make sure your professor knows that the software doesn't support this "course requirement" on your platform. It should make a difference to him/her. If the functionality is a requirement of the course, then the school or professor should have done the research to find out that only the Windows client supports voice chat. All I had to do was use Yahoo's "Ask Yahoo! Help" function to get this information; it took me all of one minute to confirm that the Mac client doesn't support voice messaging.

A believe that there are other chat clients that do support voice chat on the Mac, and that also interface with Yahoo, but I haven't researched that subject yet. Maybe you could get extra credit for providing this "fix."

There are none that support voice chat with Yahoo.

AOL Instant Messenger on Windows can do voice and video chat with iChat AV.
