I've used Transmit for several years but it was acting up (as it often does) so I decided to try a couple other clients.

I stumbled upon Yummy FTP and this thing is WAY better. It basically has everything Transmit has, but is faster, more reliable and then it tops it with dozens more features. How come nobody talk about this client?

Are there any problems with it that I haven't run into yet? I'm thinking about shelling out the $25 for it.

No problems whatsoever here -- a small glitch introduced in a beta was fixed within a few days.

The ability to filter files is extremely useful to me, as the CMS we use creates loads of files on the server that I don't want to download.

How has Transmit acted up? I've been using it for quite a while and it has always run flawlessly for me. I'll have to take a look at Yummy FTP.

I used to be a Transmit user, but I switched to Yummy FTP earlier this year. Transmit wouldn't connect to my accounts with the university. Yummy's syncing/mirroring also seems more robust. The interface is a bit nicer (IMO), and it's faster for me than Transmit was.

Definitely faster and the interface is more refined.

How can they expect to be taken seriously with an icon like that?

yes, i tried Yummy and was very very impressed with it...the only reason I didn't buy it was because of the lack of a "magic mirror" feature like in FTPeel and Transmit 3. But it is a great app. The icon is pretty lame, but it's probably the most baanced app on the mac as far as features and interface.

Yeah, that icon sucks. The name is stupid too. It is a pleasure to use, though, in comparison with Transmit and Cyberduck and that is what's important.

I also had several problems with Transmit's reliability. I switched to Yummy FTP and all my problems disappeared. Just to note, they replaced the icon with the latest version and also added something called autoroute, which is basically the magicmirror/docksend feature under another name.

I just wish Apple would someone let you mount FTP directories to the Desktop and allow uploading.
