iMovie won't let me import and open certain .mpg, .mpeg, and other such file formats, only .avi's. How can I get it to open those other file formats?

I don't actually know the answer to your question, but no one was helping! So my suggestion is to look through the imovie help files, first of all, because that sounds like a question that would be addressed there.

Second, go to Apple's site, click on "support" and then on "discussions." You very possibly will find the answer to your question first in perhaps the FAQ folder or by browsing through other people's questions.
