i tried to upload a clip from my mini dv camcorder to imovie ... is there anyway i can change the format to mpeg or something similiar in size because the default format it save as each up alot of space ... a 10 minute clip takes over 500mb in the dv format

After you have finished working on it you can export it to any format you want.
Chose Export to quicktime ... expert settings.
