I just got myself a shiny new epson perfection 2580 scanner last night and it works great except for when the scanning software freezes and I have to hard reset my mac. It just seems to be working great for a few scans then on the next scan it just hangs and pretends its warming up forever. I can't even force quit the epson scan app using many different methods (dock, force quit menu, 'kill' command). Does anyone else have issues like this with scanners? Is there any good scanning software out there? I tried vue scan but it just didn't compare to the easiness of epson scan's auto mode which, like I said, works great except for when it freezes.
