I leave all of my read messages (that I want to keep) in my in box, so I can look at them later. The only thing I notice is when I check my mail at school with entourage, the messages I have already read come up as new, is there a way to make these messages stay but not be left on the server?
Thanks

I presume you mean your inbox of your imap server? What has this got to do with Mail.app? I'm sorry I don't understand?

I use to use Entourage and recently switched to mail.app. When I read mail with Entourage, I could keep it in the InBox and it was read and I would not get the same mail I read at home at work. I thought it would be the same way with mail.app. My account is a .mac account. I don't know how to explain it any differently.

I'm not sure of the precise answer to this, but you might want to paly around with the options under 'Keep copies of messages for offline viewing:' in the Advanced tab under Accounts in your Mail.app preferences.

You using POP or IMAP? .Mac supports both... entourage defaults to POP may have been deleting them from the server. Mail.app won't do this with IMAP accounts.
You could use POP for your .Mac account in Mail -- but I wouldn't recommend it. Why not have the same view of your mail from both places?

Our whole school uses Entourage and it is what our Principal expects us to use for calendar events and stuff (trust me I have tried to get her to switch to iCal and Mail). I like mail better then entourage at home.

Thanks for the idea, I am at work right now and using Entourage, will look at mail when I get home!

OK, not sure if these preferences are set right, but under the advance tab, where it says keep messages offline for viewing, I have All messages and their attachments chosen. Is that wrong?
Thanks for your help!
