Does anyone know what would be the best codec/compression settings for recording live audio using Omnioutliner Pro? Best meaning, the least amount of space.

Since I'm only recording for teacher lectures, I would prefer the audio size to be as low as possible, still being about to hear the teacher.

any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I suspect that the default Best Performance... setting that it comes with is going to be your best bet - the quality isn't great but the file sizes are smaller. The best thing to do would be to play around with the settings using the Best Performance... values as your benchmark to see if you can get them smaller without losing further or too much quality.
