I'm from the windoze world and just got a new ibook today. One thing that bugs me about windoze is that when you install something it's all over your machine and your pc is never the same again, even if you supposedly uninstall it.

I remember from my systems 6 and 7 days, last time I used a Mac, that if you wan't to get rid of something you installed, just drag the main folder to the trash and you were done. There might be perhaps one file in the System folder.

How is this with OS X now?

Thanks!

Chris

p.s. How do I get to a UNIX command line?

It's pretty much the same nowadays. Most apps you install just by dragging them onto your hard disk. You can usually delete apps like this just by dragging them to the trash. Apps with installers usually come with uninstallers as well (and if they don't, yell at the developer). Any support files will generally be found in your Library folder under Preferences (for preferences) or Application Support (for any other miscellaneous support files they need). Programs are usually pretty self-contained, which is why OS X doesn't have an uninstaller like Windows.

And to get to a command line, just open Terminal in /Applications/Utilities.
