Time and again, I click on a link with Safari and it tries to open the link in Script Editor of all things. I try to beat it by right-click saving the linked file to the desktop, but often it beats me to the punch and I have to try the whole process again.

I have no idea how this started happening, but does anyone know how to make it stop?

Does it happen with a particular type of file you're trying to download ?

I know that ".asp" files would sometimes try to open with Apple System Profiler. Perhaps they type of file you are working with is somehow tagged or marked in a way that Apple Script tries to open it.

Point to an example of a file this is happening with and people on this forum can try to reproduce it and see what the heck is happening.

Ahh... it's freaking Download Deputy (which I deleted a month ago). Apparently the uninstaller doesn't remove the plugin, so when it tries to download and can't find the application, it goes to Script Editor for some reason. VersionTracker reviews for that piece of garbage are full of people complaining about the same thing.

The moral is, don't install Download Deputy. Use Speed Download instead. Thanks for the help, Krusty...
