The Standard toolbar in Excel is missing on my PowerBook G4 (Ti). It's checked in the menu as though it's opened and if I uncheck it nothing happens. I then recheck it and nothing. Photoshop and some apps allow you to open the default config from the menu, but I see no such function in Excel. Any ideas how to get it back? Thanks!

No idea, but have you tried adding in back through the customise option?
You might also want to say what version of Excel you are using.

Yep, I tried that. Using the most current version of Excel, sorry.

So it appears OK in View...Toolbars....? Maybe it is really there, but it just contains no icons for some reason. You could try View....Toolbars....Customise....Reset to take you back to the defaults. Otherwise, you are looking at removing settings files from the Office folder I reckon.

Good call on the reset, that wouldn't be good, but better than some other crap. I'll respond!

Look in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/
There are a few files of interest which might be causing this problem. For example, I have Excel Toolbars (10). You could remove that onto the Desktop (or wherever) and see what happens when you re-start Excel. The other thing to do would be to see what happens if you login as a different user. That would tell you if the problem was specific to you as a user (and therefore a problem with a file somewhere in your Home folder) or if it was a more general problem with the Application.

Did you happen to connect another display/two displays? I just did that with my new PowerBook and opened Excel and dragged the worksheet and toolbars over to the second display. After shutting down the second display and booting Excel up, I too had no toolbars, but they were checked. So I attached the second display and there they were, the two toolbars were there. I just dragged them back to the PowerBook display and all was fine.

Welcome to MacNN! I think it may be related to multiple monitors, yet I do have them connected when I can't see it. Also, when I don't have them connected, I can't see it. Effectively it might be lost outside of these monitor regions. Figuring out where it is I find unknown.
