If you have QuickTime Pro and the MPEG-2 component, then the QuickTime Player is actually surprisingly good (no iMovie or anything, but it'll do simple editing jobs). This isn't exactly cheap, however: $30 for QTPro and another $20 for the MPEG-2 stuff.

So far its working fine.

go here: http://www.defyne.org/dvb/iTele.html

and also look at the forum at the top of this page, and the drivers you need etc.

the card is DIVCO fusionHDTV3 gold. $150 from copperbox. go to DIVCO main page, and see the 'buy'

the card comes from korea and is for US also.

so far it works great. read the above and decide. the files are very large ( maybe 20GB/30 min??) so if you want to same stuff, get soome big HD

I hve the alchemyDVR card for analog TV , I use it with plain vanella cable and its also fine

good luck!

but remember: its still TV!

QTPro will NOT let you edit MPEG files. MPEG StreamClip however is an excellent tool for it and supports more MPEG file formats than any other option to boot. It also requires the $20 MPEG-2 decoder though if you want to edit MPEG-2 content.

Uncle S:
Its not clear to me so I thought Id ask

I have QTPro (plain)

if I buy from Apple the MPEG2 addition, then with these two, will I be able to edit my recorded MPEG2 from the DIVCO?

MPEG Streamclip is a differetent program from apple's offering? once I find that program, it will accepts apples MPEG2 addition and then Ill be able to edit the MPEG2 and change them to smaller QT files?

thanks

Yes

QT (the framework) has a plugin architecture so you can increase the file formats and compression formats QT can play or encode to. These include MPEG-2, divx, 3ivx, etc. Separate from that, QT (the application, which uses the framework) has editing and encoding features enabled by paying $30 and entering a code. Other apps like MPEG StreamClip also use the QT framework to benefit from the same plugins. Make sense?
