Hi,
Does anybody know how to make an .iso image file in Mac OS 10.3?
I have an old Beige G3 but no CD-RW installed, but my old PC does, so I was thinking if it is possible to write an .iso file on the mac, tramsfer the file on a SD card and burn it on the PC?
I've tried Toast 5.2.3 but to no avail - it only makes .toast files
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Kim

I believe you can convert Disk Images to ISO with hdiutil
hdiutil convert -format UDTO -o blah.iso blah.dmg
for example. There might be a GUI option for this buried away somewhere in Disk Copy.
I'm sure you can do this with Toast but I haven't used it for a while.

You can rename the .toast file to .iso
It's the same format, toast just uses another extension for some strange reason. I always burn my toast images as .iso files on my PC and I have never had any problems.

hdiutil convert always tacks on a .cdr extension when you convert to UDTO, for some reason.

Thanks guys, I've finally managed to get some backup data from my Mac burned on my PC - and all it took was to make a .toast imagefile, and the rename the .toast file to .iso,, transfer the file to the PC and then burn it onto a blank CD...

Well, sorry for replying back - I was just trying to explain that the solution you gave helped me, and which steps I took... But the next time, I'll just let the thread die wit out a comment from me...

I misunderstood what you said. I thought you had not read what I wrote and then found it out on your own. So I thought my comment had been for the birds and I wondered why you hadn't seen it.
I didn't want to accuse you, I only was irritated - I'm sorry.

No need to be sorry... I'm just (and have had) a crappy day at work! They are all a pile of bastards!
Thanks again guys for your help
