First- this is a legitimate student/teacher 3 pack install of Office 2004.
I just bought a new powerbook, and used the set up assistant to move my user folder from my old iBook. So now, both 'Books have the same product key for Office 2004.
Then I gave the old iBook to my wife.
Now, Office is registering the same key on both 'Books; I still have one legit install of Office 2004 on the CD; but how do I change the product key? Because now, Office sees the same key on both 'Books on our home network and won't let us run any Office apps on the 2 'Books simultaneously.
I've tried trashing every office preference that I can find, trashing the Office folder and reinstalling office 2004, but it retains the old product key in the new install.
I didn't find any Office 2004 uninstall app on the MS site.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

Well, first of all I don't have any experience with Office 2004 or any of the different licenses for it. But regarding your search for an Office removal tool, I know that with the previous version of Office, there was a Remove Office app on the CD under the Value Pack installer.
Of course, I have no idea if removing Office solves your particular problem (although you'd think it would), but you could try looking on your CD to see if they've included a removal tool like they did with the previous version.
There also might be a Remove Office app as part of the demo version of Office 2004 that you can get from Microsoft's site, but that's just a guess.

I also have the student edition of Office 2004, but I haven't been able to find my disks tonight, so I can't verify this (maybe I'll find them tomorrow).
I believe there is a folder on the installation CD that says something like "Microsoft Extras". I think there is an uninstall application there.
I'll try to follow up on this in the next few days.

To uninstall Office 2004 completely, you need to Trash:
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ (various Office files in here)

Inside Microsoft Office/Office there is an invisible file called OfficePID. This is the file that contains your registration information. You can install PathFinder and have it find this invisible file and delete it for you.
If you have the original CD, all you have to do is to trash you Microsoft Office folder, empty the trash, then drag the new copy back onto your hard drive and relaunch. It should then ask you for the KEY information.

Hmmm, PubGuy- where do I find PathFinder? I'm not seeing it on either Versiontracker or MacUpdate.
Thanks in advance,
Ken
Never mind- I'm a dork- I found it.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi,
In the Microsoft Office 2004 folder in Applications, there is an "Additional Tools" folder.
Inside that folder, there is a "Remove Office" folder, and insider that there is a "Remove Office" application.
