So now that I am using my G5 to watch movies, I have noticed a lot of tearing in DVD Player. I tried enabling Vertical Sync in the ATI Preference panel for DVD Player, but it doesn't help. Is there some setting somewhere to fix this?

I don't think DVD Player does deinterlacing properly in Panther. VLC will if you can use that.
