I would like to burn a cd or many cds of a large folder. What software out there will help me do this? Can Toast take a folder and then put it on multipule cds on its own?

Thanks for you help.

The question is how large? If it fits on a single CD, the Finder can do it for you. If it doesn't, I'm not sure Toast can help...

I ahve several folders, and several sizes all larger than a single CD: 950MB, 1.2GB, 2.2GB, ect.

I'm no expert on this, but it seems to me that if you're trying to burn files on a CD, the files have to be smaller than the CD.

The problem with burning to multiple CDs is the result - What happens when you put one of the CDs in your drive? You see what? Part of the file? Part of the file and dialog box asking you to insert the other CD?

There's no indication that Tiger will solve these sorts of issues.

I'd suggest doing one of the following:

(1) try compression software (depending on what type of data is in your folders this might or might not help) to get file size down to something that will fit on a single CD

(2) if you have a superdrive, consider burning a data DVD - bigger capacity than a CD

(3) consider breaking up the large folders into several smaller folders that you can back-up onto single CDs

(4) buy an external hard drive to use instead of CDs (they're pretty cheap these days)

You need the tool Drop DMG. it can take your folder and cut it up in CD sized disk images. The only down side is that you need to load all the disk images onto the hard drive before mounting. link to software

Burn to DVD if you have the superdrive.
