Big fan of NPR. Knowing there are tones of archives that I can stream via Real Player, I'd like to know how I can save these shows as MP3 and always have them in iTunes or my iPod.
Looked into Audio Hijack, and it worked great. However, the files were too big for the hour long shows.
Any ideas? Thoughts of how I can save these programs?
Thanks

Audio Hijack is what you're looking for. I've used it exactly for that purpose (NPR Real stream to MP3).
I didn't notice you had already tried it. I just convert to AAC after Hijack is done, so unless you're too low on disk space for the raw AIFF during the record, it should be OK.

The files were too big for hour long shows An hour long AIFF should be, like 600mb ... that doesn't bust any size limits I know of (like a 2gb limit). If they come down as 600mb .. just convert them in iTunes down to a reasonably sized mp3 or AAC.

Audio Hijack Pro can encode while it records.
