I've purchased a handful of audible books from audible.com. I would like to burn these books onto a cd for my wife to listen to when she commutes to work. The file size of all the books combined is less than 500 mb, but when I try to burn them on a CD via iTunes, I get an error message saying that the books are too big to fit on one cd. If a cd holds 650 mb, why can't I put the audible.com books onto the cd & listen to them? Is it possible to fit the books onto one cd? I don't want my wife switching 20 cds while she's driving down the road.
Thanks,
lw

It's probably because when you burn a compressed sound file as a audio file, it takes a lot more space up. For example, if you have a 4mb mp3, it will take a lot more then 4 mp3 on the cd if it's an audio cd (probably about 10-15mb)

Most unabridged audio books (at the library, where I usually get books on tape) are minimum 3 or 4 CDs. My daughter listened to one of the Harry Potter books and it was 18
CDs. Just one CD wold be a pretty short book.

You didn't get the Harry Potter Books at Audible.
Easiest way, without losing quality, is get her an iPod, shuffle, mini or plain iPod. Or burn more than 1 CD.

Walker, you're confusing the size of the compressed mp3 file with the size of the uncompressed file type (aiff) that is used on an audio CD.
Your 500 MB is the file size of the mp3s. If you want to burn this to an audio disk that expands to about ten to fifty times the amount, depending on the compression ratio that was used to compress the original recording.
Not sure if this is an option for you, but there are now car stereos available that play mp3 CDs.

Nope! It was from the library. It took many, many hours of listening, too...
