I am still new to the mac and was wondering the commands on how to partition and format a hard drive.

Keep'er simple please.

Well first of all, you can't format or partition your currently running system disk. Which means you MUST boot from a different drive than your internal eMac drive (external hard drive OR your the cd/dvd system disk that came with your machine). Partitioning a disk WILL erase its contents.

For a basic overview, search the Mac help files for 'Partition' and this should get you on your way. Is that simple enough
