After downloading the latest Firefox update, I noticed that every time I open
Firefox, the volume icon appears on the desktop. I can't get rid of it, except to close Firefox and drag the icon to the trash (which turns into the eject symbol.)

I can't put this anywhere in the harddrive, or in applications, except as an alias?? The Firefox volume remains on the desktop.

If I close Firefox, the icon remains on the desktop, until I 'eject' it. Next time I open Firefox the volume appears on the desktop.

How do I get rid of this?

Did you drag the application to your applications folder? If not, you probably have the shortcut icon in the dock with the original app still in its disk image, causing the image to mount everytime you launch firefox.

I had this exact same problem.

I tend to keep all my installers on my HD with multiple versions in my arsenal if need be.

The only time I have ever had any issues is with one version of FF, which I deleted when the next version came out.

Ceratin actions, such as opening NetBarrier or the running of SU, seemed to ressurrect it from the dead.
