Just installed Virtual PC 7 with windows xp pro on my 1.67Ghz powerbook. I then ran the "PiFast Challenge" from http://pifast.hexus.net/pifast.php This essentially computes Pi to a million decimal places. I got a time of 346seconds which is equivalent to a 700MHz P3! So the computational power of VPC7 seems to be very good!! I would be very interested if anyone else could post their results/machine speed running this....

887s puts you at the level of a 233MHz Pentium II. I'm suprised you didn't get higher. I only give 160mb to VPC so it doesnt seem to be a memory difference. Personally I've found VPC math performance to be surprisingly good!

I think I know what happened. When the first number showed up, I opened up Firefox and did some other surfing before I realized the program was still running. I did it a second time without using any other programs and got a final score of 586.85. Much better than my original 887.38.
